monday i slept all day; my first abscence from school
then nick and drennen came and I had to much to drink
tuesday i skipped my first class and spent over $400 for an mbox with protools
due to a pricing error, I got a quart of chocolate soy mile for $1
I went back and spent the remaining four dollars on four more.
later that day we got internet access at the apartment
a quart and a half of chocolate soy later,
Wednesday night I emailed a resume to three ads for an internship
Today I got a phone call and he asked me if I'm good at mixing.
I researched the guy's name and didn't find much. I won't tell you who it is and where this place is so I can feel free to say whatever the fuck I want about them. In general I felt a very positive experience.
I had to take a pci card out of one mac and put it into his old mac and then hooked up an external hard drive.
His hard drive ran out of space at one point, but luckily he was moving files from his old computer onto the studio computer. He had these 32bit cubase files that needed to be individually converted to 24bit so that protools could understand them.
This guy had between 30 and 60 tracks (I didn't count) and he picked his favorite 12 and I did it in an hour and a half.
The whole time there was this blunt roach sitting there and when I was done my work he suggested I could smoke it if I wanted to. Then he said he would call me again and thanks for coming and I gave him a cd with jay gunnz, brad, and "going to the wire". He also offered me a bottle of water. I told him I wasn't availible on weekends because I have some "unfinished projects" back home and these kids are giving me money. He said they try to keep busy but really sessions only happen like every other day. He asked me if I stay up late.
My first experience as an intern.
oh and after the first time he saw me work the mouse he asked me what my sign was
got out of class early, I was able to leave brooklyn by 4:47. I must have been thirteen minutes ahead of rush hour because even though I expected no moving through the traffic I was able to get out alive and was back home around seven.
i went to philly with lauran and drennen; we arrived at reggie's a little too early but apparently there was a party right across the street. so we went there. a few shots and some beer pong later, we finally found someone to smoke with us. I would go up to people and ask if they could "spare some change for the revolution" and then I would do the universal joint gesture.
now what to do... I have so much I could do but I think i'll just lay here.
